Top Gun Aerobatic Stunt Flying for Two from Red Letter Days
Your experience begins with an intensive flight and safety briefing from your ex-military instructor, before you get kitted out in a Top Gun-style flight suit and a parachute. Then take to the air for a 40 minute flight with your instructor in an Extra 300, a high-performance lightweight aircraft which is one of the premier aerobatic planes in the world. Experience an airborne tactic demonstration and formation manoeuvres, accompanied by another Extra 300. Then you take the stick - your chance to try out some manoeuvres yourself and then tailchase the other plane. Get behind your 'enemy' and transmit 'gun guns guns', to see smoke billow from the aircraft in front. Back on the ground, there'll be a full debrief and presentation of certificates.
Availability: Flights operate on selected Thursdays or Fridays from March to November.Weather: Flying is dependent on the weather and it is crucial that you call the venue for a weather check before setting out.Duration: The experience lasts up to four hours, including safety briefings, parachute drill and around 40 minutes' flying. Actual flying time is at your instructor's discretion. There is a little standing around as you are trained for your extreme flying.Numbers On Day: You will each have an aircraft and instructor to yourselves for the experience. All briefings are shared. Spectators: You're welcome to bring up to two spectators, who can join you during the briefings. We strongly recommend that you get someone to drive you home; this is a high-adrenaline experience and you may feel very tired.Dress Code: Wear flat shoes with good grip - trainers are ideal. Women - please wear trousers not a skirt. An air combat helmet and flying suit will be provided.Guidelines: The airfield has cafe and bar facilities. You'll have the opportunity to do some aerobatic flying before landing. You MUST take your booking confirmation letter with you on the day.Restrictions: Minimum age is 16, min height 5' and max 6'4''. Maximum weight is 15st 7lbs.
